My Car Profile

1 - 1983 Subaru GL: My first car ever. Purchased from Kilbourn's (neighbors) for $300 at age 15. Spray painted yellow with tons of bumper stickers - Sold to junk yard for $50 a year and a half later. They liked the windshield.

2 - 1986 Subaru GL-10: My first car to have CD Player, and turbo. Blew the engine coming up Parley's due to lack of oil. Dad paid for repair questionably close to the value of the car. Marianne inherited and put it to death while on my mission.

3 - 1990 - Jeep Cherokee: Had just put new big tires on it and waxed for a road trip to Las Vegas to see Eric Clapton. Lost it in a mysterious car fire setting the adjacent hillside ablaze, between St. George and Mesquite. Hitchhiked to Vegas, saw the show, and flew home.

4 - 1988 - Plymouth Horizon: Inherited through marriage. Known as "The Poo Car". Broken car handles required me to enter through the hatch back (which had old worn out hydraulic lifters requiring a speedy entry before the hatch slammed shut).

5 - 1993 Subaru Legacy: Still going strong and used daily. Have replaced various hub caps as they have a tendency to wander off from time to time, but have made no significant mechanical repairs.

6 - 1990 Acura Legend: Fast car. Purchased from father in law, the sunroof eventually started leaking and dripped down my shirt every evening in the winter time leaving Nike. Sold over the internet to a hip hop gangsta in Oakland. He paid cash and took delivery in person with his "homies" allowing for an exciting evening.

7 - 1998 - Dodge Grand Caravan: Purchased at a garage sale in "like new" condition. Within the first year and a half we replaced the alternator, the starter, and the transmission. After such repairs it felt as if it was finally a "like new" car. A few months later when the price of the air conditioner repair exceeded the desire to continue ownership it was traded to a dealer as "like new" (the dealer never even turned the car on during negotiations).
